Babyhug Compacto 3-in-1 Convertible Cot, Rocker & Study Table — Our Experience

Image
Disclaimer This post is based entirely on our personal experience using the product. Every baby is different, and what worked for us may not work the same way for others. Please use your own judgement and consider your child’s safety and comfort before making any purchase or usage decisions. We bought the Babyhug Compacto 3-in-1 Convertible Cot, Rocker & Study Table when our son was around one year old. At that stage, he had just started pulling himself up, trying to stand, and exploring everything within reach. Safety was the primary reason we even considered a cot in the first place. One thing worth mentioning right at the beginning: when he was learning to stand, he often used the sides of the cot to pull himself up . In that sense, the cot did help during that phase. This isn’t one of those products that magically solves everything, though. It worked well in some situations and didn’t in others. How we actually used the cot We mainly used the cot in three ways: Occasionally...

Sebamed Baby Cream Extra Soft: Our Experience Using It for Dry Skin

Image
Disclaimer: This post is based on our personal experience and is not medical advice. Please consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns. As our son grew, we noticed that he had dry skin on his legs, especially the area below the knees. It was not something sudden. It developed gradually and kept coming back. In the beginning, we used coconut oil. Being in Kerala, this is something most families are comfortable with, and we were no different. At times, it did help ease the dryness. But after a while, the dryness would return. It never fully went away. We also reduced the amount of soap we applied in that area, thinking that might help. Even then, the dryness more or less remained. So we decided to try something else. We chose Sebamed Baby Cream Extra Soft, which you can find here . This was not a random choice. We had already been using Sebamed products such as Sebamed shampoo and Sebamed soap and we were comfortable with them. So it felt natural to try this next. Aft...

Sebamed Baby Shampoo Review: Our Experience Using It for Our Son

Image
Disclaimer: This post is based on our personal experience and is not medical advice. Please consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns. When it came to choosing a shampoo for our baby, we were cautious. Shampoo is not something you use very often on a newborn, but when you do use it, you want to be sure it will not cause any irritation. We chose Sebamed baby shampoo for the same reason we chose the soap. It was mild, and my wife was comfortable with it from the beginning. The first time we used it, I was slightly concerned. Like most parents, I was worried about whether it would irritate his eyes. Babies tend to move around during a bath, and it is difficult to ensure that nothing gets into their eyes. To our relief, he was completely comfortable. There was no crying, no sign of irritation, and no discomfort during or after the bath. That gave us confidence very early on… You can find it here. we relied on their soap too: here’s that review . We did not use shampoo ev...

In the beginning, he walked slowly and fell down at times, which was expected. But once his steps became more stable and firm, he began running around. That changed everything. Luvlap Furniture Corner Guard Suddenly, the corners of tables and teapoys in our house became a constant worry. There was one tea poi right in the centre of the hall, and we were particularly concerned about him falling and hitting its corners or edges. The risk felt very real. At one point, we even considered moving the tea poi altogether. Before doing that, we decided to look for a solution online. The first product we ordered was the Novo silicone baby corner protector. 👉  This was the Novo silicone baby corner protector...

Babyhug Pro Bubble Care Diaper Review: Why We Used Only This for Our Son

Image
Disclaimer: This post is based on our personal experience and is not medical advice. Please consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns. When it came to choosing diapers for our son, my wife was very particular. She did not want to settle for anything less than what she considered to be good quality. From the beginning, she was clear that we would use the Babyhug Pro Bubble Care Premium Advance diapers.  These are the Babyhug Pro Bubble Care Premium Advance diapers we’ve been using . They were definitely pricier compared to many other brands available in the market. But she did not even consider alternatives. There was no confusion or experimentation at the start. We simply went ahead with this. We started using these diapers when he was an infant. At that stage, even putting a diaper on was a challenge. Because of that, we chose the strap-on version of the diaper. It was more convenient and easier to manage during those early days. There may be different opinions on t...

Illustration of a Nebuliser Disclaimer: This post is based on our personal experience and is not medical advice. Please consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When we bought an Omron nebuliser for our son, it was not something we had planned in advance. This post is not a technical review or a comparison of specifications. It is simply an account of why we bought this nebuliser, how we used it at home, and what our experience was like during a real illness. I am writing this for parents who may be wondering whether having a nebuliser at home is useful, and what it is actually like to use one with an infant. Our son fell sick, and my wife was the one who asked me to get a nebuliser. She was also clear about the brand. She asked me to buy an Omron nebuliser. I went to a nearby pharmacy and bought it from there. 👉  This is the Omron nebuliser we bought .  At the time, I remember thinking that it w...

Sebamed Baby Soap Review: Why We Used It for Our Newborn

Disclaimer: This post is based on our personal experience and is not medical advice. Please consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns. When it came to choosing a soap for our newborn, we were very cautious. This post is not meant to compare multiple baby soaps or list ingredients in detail. It is simply an account of why we chose Sebamed baby soap, how we used it during the newborn phase, and what our experience was like over time. I am writing this for parents who are trying to decide whether Sebamed is worth the higher price and whether it actually makes a difference in everyday use. 👉 This is the Sebamed baby soap we used during the newborn phase .  If you’re reading this from outside India, you can check the same product on Amazon here. This is based entirely on our personal experience of using the soap at home, not on promotional claims or brand descriptions. Sebamed baby soap is more expensive than most other baby soaps available in the market. That was obviou...

A Journey We Were Unsure About

Image
The next experience that stands out for me is when we travelled to Ernakulam for a job interview. This was for my wife, and we decided to take our son along with us. He was close to one year old at the time. There were quite a few challenges to manage. He was not used to travelling much, and travelling by plane was something we knew would be a big challenge. Still, we felt we should try. We prepared ourselves as much as we could. We packed all the essentials he would need, from diapers to extra towels. We carried wipes as well, knowing they would come in handy during emergencies. Fortunately, airports had breastfeeding areas, which made things much easier. He was able to feed properly, and that helped keep him calm. Our biggest concern was the flight. We were worried about how he would react during takeoff and landing. To our surprise, he appeared completely fine. Even during the flight, which was barely forty minutes, he was calm and composed. Honestly, we felt quite lucky. Illust...

Why We Kept the 28th Day Function Small

Image
The 28th day after our son was born is considered important where we come from. As per our culture, a function is usually held on that day. The baby is adorned with bangles and ornaments, and relatives and guests who attend bring their gifts, most of them gold ornaments. This is also the day when a small gold chain is tied around the baby’s waist. It is considered symbolic and important. The baby’s name is also formally called out on this day. Until then, the name mostly exists within the family, but this is when it is said aloud as part of the ritual. There is also another part to this function. During the ceremony, people present, starting with the father or grandfather, give the child a sip of milk. It is usually diluted. This is something that has been happening here for a very long time. Everyone accepts it as normal. The problem is that very often, after this function, babies end up with loose stools. Sometimes it is mild, sometimes it is not. In many cases, it is nothing but foo...

How We Learned to Decide What to Buy During the Infant Stage

Image
When our child was an infant, we realised very quickly that buying decisions mattered less than we thought. What changed over time was not the number of products we used, but how we decided what was actually necessary. In the early days, it is easy to feel that every problem needs a product. Crying, sleep, skin care, comfort, hygiene, there seems to be something available for everything. We live in a time where there are far too many choices. For every small issue, there are multiple products, suggestions, and strong opinions coming from all directions. With time, we learned to slow down, and that turned out to be very important. We began to think differently before buying anything new. This post is about how that thinking changed for us and how it helped us during the infant stage. We stopped buying in advance In the beginning, we bought things in anticipation. It felt like the responsible thing to do. After all, this was our first child, and we did not want to be caught unprepared. R...

What We Stopped Buying After the First Month

Image
In the first few weeks, you’re constantly trying to stay one step ahead. There is this desire to overdo things... especially if it is your first child. You want to be prepared for every possible situation, and that often leads to buying more than you actually need. That was also true for us. Initially, we selected a number of items, thinking they would be useful. As time passed and we settled into a routine, we realised that some of them were barely being used. Not because they were bad products, but because they did not really fit into our day-to-day life with a newborn. This post is about what we slowly stopped buying after the first month, and why. Illustration simplifying newborn care over time Too many newborn clothes Like most parents, we bought many newborn clothes. We had so many of them. We tried all kinds of shapes. But in reality, we kept using the same few comfortable clothes again and again. Newborns grow quickly, clothes need frequent washing, and comfort matters far...

The Things That Truly Helped Us in the Newborn Phase

Image
Illustration of an early hospital moment Before our child was born, we bought a lot of things, thinking they were essential. Some of them were. Many were not. Like most new parents, we were excited, a little anxious, and surrounded by advice. Over time, we realised that newborn care is less about buying everything available and more about knowing what actually gets used day after day. This post is not a list of “must-haves”. It is simply an honest account of what we used during the newborn phase, what helped us, and what quietly worked without creating more confusion. Skin care: keeping it simple Soap We were very careful about what we used on our baby’s skin. We chose a soap from Sebamed , which is commonly recommended for newborns. What we liked was how mild it was. It did not dry out the skin and did not cause any irritation. We stuck to it instead of experimenting with multiple products, and that consistency mattered. Oil We used extra virgin coconut oil , which is very common...
